Muscle is a very adaptable tissue. With proper training, muscles grow stronger and larger, which enables us to perform everyday activities more easily. Conversely they can also become smaller and weaker if they are not used on a regular basis. Therefore resistance training should be part of everyone’s exercise program.
Benefits of Weight/Resistance Training

When we increase demands on our muscles and perform physical work that is greater than usual, they get stronger. This increase in strength is due to increased:

• Muscle fibre size
• Muscle contractile strength

• Coordination among muscle groups

• Tendon and ligament contractile strength and Bone strength

Positive changes in the muscular system have a large influence on our everyday lives.
Muscle building and recovery is very individualized. The Physical Activity guide to Healthy Active living recommends 2 to 4 days strength training workouts per week. For most clients more rest is better than not enough rest especially when beginning a new training program.

When you incorporate strength training into your life you will experience many positive health benefits including improved body composition, reduced injury, better posture, improved daily activities, improved sport performance and better body awareness. The benefits to strength training are endless, building muscle increases metabolism which helps the body burn fat efficiently end result lose inches, feel stronger and look better.
